Government Documents

The MLA citation format for a government document will depend on the specific type of document you are citing. Here are some general guidelines to follow:

  1. Author: Begin with the name of the government agency or department responsible for the document, followed by a period.

  2. Title of the document: Italicize the title of the document, followed by a period.

  3. Publication information: Include the publication information for the document, including the date of publication, the place of publication, and the publisher. If this information is not available, use the name of the website where the document was found.

Here is an example of an MLA citation for a government document:

United States, Department of Health and Human Services. Medicare and Medicaid Programs: Changes to the Medicare Claims and Entitlement,

and Medicaid Eligibility Appeals Process. Federal Register, vol. 81, no. 219, 15 Nov. 2016, pp. 79562-79667.
