This is the guide to the High School Library at Korea International School Jeju.

What is plagiarism?

The University of Oxford defines plagiarism as:

“...presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.”

University of Southern California: Centre for Excellence in Teaching:
 
“To steal or pass off as one’s own the idea or words of another.”

 

EXAMPLES INCLUDE:

  • Cut-and-paste

  • Word-for-word copying

  • Using alternative words

  • Rearranging the sentence/ paragraph

  • No citations

  • No bibliography

  • No quotation marks (direct quotes)

  • Not checking sources

  • Making-up sources
